Robyn Miller's Bundle

  1. Hello, there were a few individuals that were having difficulty with logging on or getting logged off of My Big Campus (MBC). If you continue to have difficulty, please email me and I will try to help problem-solve.

I know when I first started with MBC, it took me almost 24 hours to get full accessibility. Before that, I just played with what I could and created a bundle when I had accessibility. Once you start, it is hard to stop!

  3. First of all, let me say that your enthusiasm is quite contagious- I can only imagine how excited the kiddos get doing their lessons. I am very interested in utilizing mybigcampus. This is my first exposure to it and my first reaction is that I can see how helpful it can be in the future. I will experiment with it over the summer and hopefully be ready to use it in August.

  4. "Students don't care about the journey anymore; just the end result." When you said this, it made my heart break, because that is such a true statement. Kids today, really don't care about the learning process and therefore, do not take pride in learning new things. I hope that as I begin my journey in my IPad classroom, I can institute that desire to want to learn into my students. Allowing my kids to choose what avenue they want to take to get to the end result will help in my goal. Thank you!!

  5. I am a binder teacher. I have a binder for each of my classes. When you said this was a digital binder I immediately had found something that I had been looking for and am looking forward to using this tool. With kids being gone due to illness or more often other reasons this also allows students to look into what they missed on their time not my time. I agree with you the journey is more important than the destination. We need to have fun and interesting journeys, not boring lectures so they can take the test and be done with a topic and check it off the list on the road to graduation or where ever they wish to end up. The journey may take a student on a different path to the destination or a different destination they didn't know was possible.

  6. I didn't know that this website existed! I like that I can look at other people's ideas for the classroom. This tool opens our classroom walls for our students. In the district I work in, our students don't have a ton of opportunities to explore their surrounding cities. They tend not to leave their town. Our students will be receiving laptops next year and the classroom walls will be broken for them. I hope to use My Big Campus to collect the resources for my students to use. I'm excited to look through this resource this summer.

  7. I loved your idea of giving students choices in the way that they demonstrate their understanding and learning. There are so many missed opportunities when students who are not good at writing are forced to write an essay to demonstrate learning, fail or do not achieve to the best of their ability simply because writing is not the best way for them to express them self. It is so true that some students are so used to being told exactly what is expected of them that they feel like they are being tricked when they are given freedom! All educators need to work on giving students more choices in their learning!

  8. I am someone who collects ideas and tools in binders and file folders. So when I saw this site, you certainly got my attention. Though I don't have a full grasp of My Big Campus, it appears to be an amazing resource. Being able to cherry pick tools from others and store it on this site appears to be a digital godsend.

Though schools are notorious for being the last ones to embrace technological change, there is no escaping the totally digital classroom. It is our responsibility as teachers to be ready when the change over happens and be able to lead the way in digital based education.

Students may know the entertainment side of all the technology available, but we need to help them use this same tech to answer the questions they will ultimately have, both in the academic setting and in their every day lives.
